wow. it has been a crazy wild ride this summer here in B HARBS. It has only been about 3 weeks of being here and 1 weeks of training and i already feel like i am a completely different person because God has been stretching and growing me.
about a week ago my computer crashed. and i was pretty down about it. it was hard not being able to communicate with friends and family online, but i was still able to use my phone so it was ok and i knew that it would all get worked out. well then on sunday my phone was stolen and i was crushed. i have to admit that i am pretty attached to my phone so losing it meant that i lost all of my contacts, pictures, and communication since my computer crashed. thankfully it happened on sunday when things get so crazy busy around here that i was not able to really think about it. its hard because i want to trust everyone. and when things like this happened i lose trust. but God has been so faithful during this time and it has really been a wake up call on how much i am attached to the things of this world and how much i need to stop and focusing solely on God and his plan for me. God's plan for me this summer is simply serving in Benton Harbor Michigan and when i get so focused on my computer or phone to communicate with those back home i am not fully serving here. so in some ways this past week of no communication has been great because i have been able to just serve with out distractions.
allllllllll right. so now im gonna make some lists:
LIST 1: CRAZY RADICAL THINGS THAT HAVE HAPPENED SO FAR
1. i love micah, nick and rachel my team is so stellar
2. we go to the beautiful beach multiple times a week
3. the community is so welcoming
4. we get to do footwashing on the beach on thursdays
5. we have a steak and shake
6. i have a real bed to sleep in
7. we have an apartment to live in!!!!!!!
8. it never gets crazy hot here
9. my team loves going out and taking photos
10. we have taken so many great pictures
11. we have a full size duct tape person on our team named frank
12. we have a banana phone for all of our awkward conversations
13. we do some of the best skits ever at club
14. we have a radical dance to cotton eye joe that we do every week
15. i got my nose pierced
LIST 2: CRAZY WEIRD THINGS THAT HAVE HAPPENED SO FAR
1. when going to the beach last thursday i asked one of the participants "are you bringing that guitar to the beach?" his response was "why would i not bring a guitar to the beach?"
2. a participant broke her ankle
3. a church van hit a car then proceeded to get pulled over by a cop for making an illegal turn
4. i have lost my voice
5. i am tired all of the time
6. all of my youthworks shirts are pretty much already stained from kitchen duty
and so there it is folks. a quick update. it has been super fun and great and i could not be any happier to be where i am right now. more updates to come soon as long as my computer stays working!
